Structure

The specialisation track in Surgery comprises 5 core courses, 4 advanced courses and a Master’s Project. Recommended length of study is 3.5 years.

Each ECTS credit is equivalent to 27.5 hours of study. The total workload is estimated to 1650 hours, which corresponds to one year of full-time study at a university. In total 60 ECTS.

Intensive courses in a flexible schedule

The Master’s programme consists mainly of short intensive courses which allows you to study alongside your veterinarian practice.

The specialisation track in Surgery is a collaboration between The University of Copenhagen and AniCura AB. The courses are primarily held in Copenhagen, Denmark and Novara, Italy.

  • Module 1 is a 5-days course at the University of Copenhagen.
  • Module 2 are a 6-days course at the University of Copenhagen.
  • Module 3-7 and module 9 are 5-days courses at AniCura Novara.
  • Module 8 is a 5-days course at a location to be announced.
  • For the Master’s Project, students receive personalised academic guidance. The project culminates in an oral examination conducted in Copenhagen.

Faculty from the University of Copenhagen will be present at all courses.

The courses are available every second year and all course dates will be announced well in advance, providing the opportunity to schedule the courses within your busy work life.

Core courses

After completion of the core courses you will automatically obtain the "European Certificate, Companion Animal Surgery".

The core courses are accredited by Veterinary Continuing Education in Europe (VetCEE).

The Master's programme

The Master of Companion Animal Clinical Science is approved as part of the credentials towards the Danish Veterinary Specialist (Specialdyrlæge).

Additionally, the programme  is accredited by The Danish Accreditation Institution.

Hands-on learning in small groups at state-of-the-art facilities.

Tuition fees cover all course materials. For courses held in Copenhagen catering is provided during course hours. In Novara, Italy, the fees include hotel accommodation and full board.

Citizens from the EU, EEA, and Switzerland are eligible for reduced tuition fees according to EU legislation.

The tuition fee is paid per course and are charged once per semester. The fees for individual courses are listed under each course.
