Nature management in Denmark and internationally
The world is facing a biodiversity crisis. Danish nature is among the worst in the EU. Despite positive initiatives such as establishing 15 new nature parks in Denmark, nature management should be taken to a completely different level. By taking a course in nature management, you will be given a broad introduction to Danish nature management, from wild nature to urban areas. For example, you can refresh your knowledge on biodiversity and preservation, restoration and protection of nature associated with landscape types such as forests, watercourses, lakes, wetlands, cultural landscapes, urban parks, etc. If you want an international perspective, you can increase your knowledge about the framework-setting terms for international forest and natural resource management, but also how international conventions and EU legislation affect nature management in Denmark.
Enhance your skills in practical nature management
We also offer courses that focus on methods and tools used in practical nature management. For example, you may want to be updated on technologies such as GIS, which is an efficient tool for collecting data, or learn how to process drone data. You can also get a more legislative perspective on nature management, for example by learning about preservation, section 3-protected nature, the directive on natural habitats, the Danish Planning Act and the Danish Nature Protection Act as well as broader environmental and planning legislation. Finally, you can take specialised courses that focus on urban nature and trees, rural areas, new growing methods and much more.
