Paweł Mikuła

Tax Advisor, Ph.D. Paweł Mikuła, combines extensive practical experience in the application of VAT law in business in various industries with significant experience in academia, lecturing and publishing on VAT.

He is a doctor of Law (Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland, dissertation with distinction on tax law formalism), licensed tax advisor, legal counselor, graduate in law of the University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland and the Faculty of Management at the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland (postgraduate studies in accounting).

He has over 18 years of experience in tax consulting - especially in VAT, general tax issues, tax proceedings and other taxes.

He is a co-founder, partner and head of the VAT practice at Polish tax advisory boutique "Halcyon | Tax. Customs. Legal".

He has coordinated numerous tax projects for Polish and international companies in a wide variety of industries (automotive, air/defense, heavy industry, consumer, e-commerce) and public sector entities: from tax reviews, to securing large tax refunds, regularization of settlements, to setting up the settlement method and tax procedures.

Author or co-author of several book publications (including a monograph on formal and documentary obligations in tax law), more than 30 publications on tax-legal issues in the daily press and scientific and professional periodicals.

Lecturer at dozens of training courses and scientific conferences on tax issues. Lecturer at WSB Academy in Dąbrowa Górnicza and guest lecturer at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Lund University (Sweden).

Vice President of the Scientific Association of Tax Law, member of the Program Council of the journal “Tax Case”, reviewer for the international scientific tax periodical Wolters Kluwer Intertax, periodic commentator on CJEU VAT case law for Wolters Kluwer Highlights & Insights on European Taxation, member of the Team of Associates of the Center for Fiscal Studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun.

Indicated as the best VAT specialist in Poland by leading Polish newspapers for the years 2020-2024.

Every week he publishes on LinkedIN essential summaries of CJEU VAT case law thereby making EU VAT law findable, relevant and connected.
